Why settle for an
ordinary rent a car when
you can get a Beetle?

Many visitors searching for rent a car Hvar choose small hatchbacks like VW Polo or Fiat 500. That’s practical, but not as memorable.

The VW Beetle Convertible turns the drive itself into the highlight of your trip. Drive with the roof down along Hvar’s coastal road between Hvar Town, Dubovica Beach and Stari Grad.

We operate Europe’s largest commercial VW Beetle rental fleet, and we’re the only company in Croatia offering multiple Beetle convertibles for hire. A unique opportunity to drive such a special car.

Why It Works on Hvar

Built for Island Roads

Open-Top Driving

The coastal road between Hvar Town and Dubovica Beach is one of the best places on the island to drive a convertible. The descent to a hidden beach below the cliffs. The vineyard road through the island’s interior toward Stari Grad. The inland drive past family-run wineries and olive groves where you can stop for a tasting and a plate of local delicacies. Every route is better with wind in your hair.

Vintage Charm, Modern Reliability

Looking for a car rental that has the soul of a classic and the dependability of a well-maintained machine? The Beetle delivers both. Trusted mechanics, regular servicing, and a design that turns heads at every stop. All wrapped in a car that feels like it belongs on these roads. It’s reliable, comfortable, and unlike anything else available on the island.

Photogenic by Default

If a perfect photo session is a must on your every vacation, you’re in luck. Dubovica Beach and the stone streets of Stari Grad are popular photo spots when travelling around Hvar by car. It’s the most photogenic car on the island (and guests tell us so constantly).

Jelsa-TZJelsa-AndroTasovac

Jelsa

  • 30 km from Hvar Town
  • 40 min

A quiet harbour town on the island’s north side. The drive takes you across the full width of Hvar.

Velo Grablje
(The Lavender Village)

  • 8 km from Hvar Town
  • 12 min

A stone hillside village founded in the 14th century and the birthplace of Hvar’s lavender tradition. In 1928, the first lavender seedlings were planted here, and the village became the centre of lavender oil production for all of Dalmatia (once among the leading suppliers in Europe).

Today, the old distillery still stands, and the annual Lavender Festival in July fills the narrow lanes with handmade oils, local honey, and klapa singing.

Info

Hvar’s beaches and villages sit 8-30 km apart. Public transport is mostly available, but not as flexible as a rental car, especially for some hidden gems.

“We rented two VW beetles to explore Hvar and it was such a fun experience! Antonio planned the trip for us and gave us excellent recommendations for swimming, which seemed to come at the perfect point of the trip, it gets HOT in a classic car! Haha!

Antonio also recommended lunch in restaurant “Alavia” and we had the best ice cream in Jelsa! Do what Antonia says and you’ll have the best day! Thank you!!”

Frequently Asked Questions

Like most ancient Mediterranean towns, Hvar’s urban centers were built for horse-drawn carts and stone-paved strolls, not modern SUVs. That’s a great point that rarely crosses people’s minds until they’re behind the wheel. The town centers are practically inaccessible by car, and the available parking spots are (to put it mildly) compact. When you see the tight parking situation around Hvar Town or the narrow alleys of Stari Grad, you’ll be incredibly glad you opted for a smaller vehicle.

If you want to see more than Hvar Town, yes. The island's best beaches, viewpoints, and villages are 8-30 km apart, and taxis add up fast. A rental car gives you full flexibility - and a Beetle turns the drive into part of the experience.

The town centre itself is compact and can be explored on foot. But the beaches and landscapes that make Hvar famous - Dubovica, the road to Stari Grad, the inland villages - require a car. Most guests decide to book once they realise how spread out the island is.

Yes, free of charge. If you're arriving by ferry from Split, we'll meet you at the port with the car ready. It's our most popular pickup option.

Our Beetle Convertible starts at €90/day. Book for 3 or more days and receive 25% off.

None. The price includes unlimited kilometres, roadside assistance, and free cancellation. No prepayment, no surprises. If anything is unclear, our English-speaking team is happy to help.

A standard car is transport. The Beetle Convertible is an open-top driving experience designed for Hvar's coastal roads. Many visitors start by searching for a regular rental and upgrade once they see the Beetle option. We offer both, so there's no pressure.

In Hvar Town centre during peak summer, yes - spaces are limited. We'll advise you on the best public parking zones. Outside the town, parking is generally easy and free.

A valid driving licence, an ID or passport, and a credit card. Visitors from some countries may also need an International Driving Permit - check your local requirements before travel.

At least one month in advance for July and August. Beetle Convertibles sell out fast in peak season. If you have specific dates in mind, the earlier you book, the better your chances.

For the comfort and preservation of the classic interiors, pets are not allowed inside the vehicles.
